Independent People Homecare was started by healthcare professionals who had a clear vision about what would make the best kind of home care...
As clinicians, they were increasingly frustrated by sub-standard home care companies that seem to be tackling the symptoms of poor mobility but not the causes.
Being in the NHS, they noticed that when people were discharged from hospital with care packages designed to help them get dressed or washed safely, perhaps after a fall, too little was being done to stop them falling again once home. Patients would often end up being readmitted again and again trapped in a downward spiral of dependency, falling confidence and poor health.
The response to this was to increase the home care package as that person would be considered to need more support, or if this had been going on for some time, that living at home was no longer possible and that a care home would now be the best place.
Sound familiar? Sound not good enough?
Now consider us.
Of course, our home care helps keep a person safe in the short term but we also encourage independence at the same time. We look to find and improve what’s wrong. We build confidence and strength. We help make things better through simple daily exercises and structured programmes that work at the same time as your care package but at no extra cost.
We work towards making you your old self again and help to stop the vicious cycle.
Independence not dependence.
Independent People Homecare believe that care is about building strong relationships with people, wining their trust and encouraging them to manage and move forward. We are focused on improving the independence our clients so that they are able to get the most out of their life.
It is with this ethos in mind that we have seven key aims and objectives:
To provide and maintain high quality evidenced based care, delivered professionally, that complies with and wherever possible exceeds current legislation, national minimum standards and good practice guides.
To provide care services based upon individually assessed needs by appropriately trained staff, which are committed to valuing and supporting individuals and take pride in their work.
To provide high quality responsive care services to enable the individual to retain independence and choice, with support and reassurance in order to remain at home for as long as they wish.
To ensure the individual and/or their representative are regularly consulted about the care service we provide, and preserve the individuals’ self-respect and dignity through high quality care.
To cater for the individuals cultural, religious and ethnic needs.
To maximise the individuals potential by working with all health professionals and social services to plan and deliver the care services.
To ensure that the needs of the individual is paramount with regard to any decisions or activities affecting their care.
